Succession Planning

Creating a well-planned exit strategy is a testament to your dedication and hard work in building your business. We collaborate with you to develop a comprehensive succession plan that meets everyone's expectations, ensuring a smooth and successful transition.

Succession Planning | +MORE Group

Why is a business succession plan important?

Are you concerned that your business may struggle without your leadership? Do you worry about recovering your investment and ensuring a smooth transition upon your exit? Are you anxious about your family’s expectations for the business’s future? Succession planning is the key to addressing these key questions and securing a successful business legacy.

Our succession planning process involves clarifying your vision for the future and defining actionable steps to turn that vision into reality. We consider your business objectives and your personal and family expectations.

Business owners should have a well-defined succession plan regardless of their intended exit timeline. Early planning is essential whether you plan on exiting in the near or distant future. A carefully structured plan maximises the value extracted from your business and ensures preparedness for unforeseen events. Lack of planning can lead to unnecessary stress, compromised sale prices, strained client relationships, and damage to your business’s reputation.

What’s involved?

Our succession planning service involves a half-day one-on-one session with our experienced team. We work closely with you to define your goals and objectives for your eventual business exit.

Before the session, you’ll complete pre-work to identify any pressing issues and align your thoughts with the session’s objectives. We will then create a concise plan tailored to your needs and ambitions.

Throughout the process, we will help you:

  • Determine your desired outcomes from the business exit
  • Clarify your succession options
  • Identify key stakeholders and individuals involved in the process
  • Establish a timeline and key milestones for your succession plan
  • Consider the various personal, financial, legal, and taxation aspects that need addressing
  • Develop actionable strategies to achieve your goals effectively

The benefits of a comprehensive plan

If you plan to become more passive in your business or sell it within the next three years, we recommend starting your succession plan now. Early planning provides ample time to prepare your business for sale and attract the ideal successor.

Benefits of our succession planning include:

  • Dedicated time to review your business and define your objectives
  • Stimulated strategic discussions around potential scenarios
  • Alignment of vision among owners, team members, and successors
  • Identification of business challenges and opportunities
  • Access to an impartial sounding board for informed decision-making
  • Clarification of the succession process and actionable steps to maximise outcomes
  • Prioritisation of critical goals and milestones
  • Enhanced ability to make effective strategic decisions
  • Development of a communication tool to engage family and stakeholders in the succession plan
  • Accountability support to stay on track in achieving your goals
